Nova Southeastern University Narcan & Overdose Prevention Chapter

Nova Southeastern University’s The Robin Foundation Club is the first of its kind as an extension of the Robin Foundation, centered around preventing overdose on college campuses. Our club is passionate about educating our peers about overdose prevention and the importance of reducing stigma and increasing awareness around substance use and overdose

Our members work to spread the notion that members work to increase understanding of substance use, overdose risk, and the importance of compassionate, informed response. Past initiatives have included active Narcan distributions within hotspots and throughout Las Olas, in addition to connecting with local mobile homes in order to maintain Narcan supply where it is needed. Members also previously attended Broward County’s drug court, where they saw the empathetic and the county’s efforts to support people and families affected by substance use and overdose. With growing membership and student-driven impact, the club seeks to partner with organizations throughout Broward County in order to implement Narcan as an essential harm reduction tool, and drive home the importance of our mission to change the way we view addiction and prevent the loss of lives to overdose.

Florida Law Supporting Narcan on College Campuses

In July 2025, Florida legislation authorized public schools and postsecondary institutions to purchase, maintain, and administer emergency opioid antagonists such as naloxone. This legal framework strengthens the ability of college campuses—including Nova Southeastern University—to integrate Narcan access as part of campus safety and public health preparedness. The NSU chapter supports this effort by aligning education, training, and distribution initiatives with state policy designed to prevent overdose deaths.
